In recent years, Charleston has become synonymous with being home to some of the hippest coffee shops, popping up on nearly every block, and we aren’t upset about it! As we settle into cooler temperatures and earlier sunrises, we have the perfect excuse to spend some extra time with loved ones over a toasty mug of hot cocoa and laughs. Read along to see our favorite picks in the city:

The Classic: Bakehouse

Hold onto your hats ladies and gents because this place satisfies. Will you fancy the smores mocha or dark hot chocolate? Known for their catering of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ Boone Hall wedding, this East Bay bakery and coffeehouse has an assortment of chocolates to choose from in your seasonal sipper and have you belting carols of joy in no time!

Adultified: Kaminsky’s

Don’t roll your eyes just yet at our recommendation to this tourist hot spot as their bartenders really know what they're doing. Brandy, kahlua, peppermint schnapps, white chocolate raspberry, oh my! Whatever strikes your fancy, they’ve got you covered!

The Uber Local: City Lights

This small enclave between Meeting and King is one of the best coffee shops in Charleston and incredibly accommodating to tailoring your taste buds and the type of place that remembers its loyal patrons orders. Among the best picks of their seasonal selections are the gingerbread mocha (almost hot cocoa) and the mexican hot chocolate. Ay caramba, it’ll knock your socks off and have you coming back daily! And be sure to snag a carob and peanut butter vegan muffin on your way out!

Vegan/Dairy Free: Harbinger

For those looking for a treat sans dairy or lactose look no further than this new spot on Upper (Upper) King that provide almond milk as a sub to any beverage free of charge. Between the rustic interior accents, thrifted collection of blue and white china plates, friendly smiles and an entirely vegan (with most being gluten free as well) in-house bakery selection, there is no sacrificing flavor for health here. And be sure to try their homemade pumpkin spice nut milk dashed in your bev du jour!
